want to.” Having thought all sides through, Jamie went on to
share how once attendees arrive at the meeting space, there isn’t
much walking and they don’t have to leave, making the event more
intimate.
Of course, all of these questions, were great, but what I really
wanted to know was what Jamie herself was really looking forward
to out of NAID 2018. Her response did not fail to deliver.
“From a personal aspect, I love seeing everyone every year. It’s like
a reunion - especially being in this position for eight years now. You
build relationships with members; so, it’s really fun to see them.”
“On the more professional end, and not to sound like a broken
record, each year our goal is to literally put on the best conference
we ever have. So that’s what I’m looking forward to. Our content
is going to be excellent. We received the highest amount of call-
for-presentations that we ever have in the history of NAID. And
they are all quality. They are all fantastic. I’m excited for that. Our
keynote is going to be great too. So this whole event – all of NAID
2018, it going to be excellent and I’m excited for it. It’s hard to
narrow it down to one thing.”
I pushed her, “Every year you’re raising the bar?”
“Exactly! I’m just trying to come up with ways for it to be different,
but familiar, but for it to be the best experience for attendees to
possibly have.”
I asked Jamie how she works to raise that bar. She shared that one
way they work to accomplish this is through the keynote speaker.
The committee doesn’t just pick one each year; they look for people
who will truly speak to attendees. The committee has an extensive
list of recommended speakers who Jamie thoroughly researches.
She went onto share that, “In recent years, we went the military
route for keynote speakers, which was great and spoke to our
attendees. This year we are shifting gears a bit because we don’t
