Data Privacy Day
“Respecting Privacy, Safeguarding Data
and Enabling Trust” was the theme for this
year’s international effort, Data Privacy Day,
held annually on January 28th to create
awareness about the importance of privacy
and protecting personal information. While
much of the initiative is regarding digital data
protection, we at NAID believe the heartbeat
of this event matches that of our own and the
message is the same. NAID posted several
tips on social media leading up to the day, but we continually
encourage our members to make conscious efforts in all daily
practices throughout the year.
This edition of the NAIDnews presents you with practical tips on
how to be #PrivacyAware.
Privacy is Good for Business
Personal information may be respected
by your business and legally required to
be protected, but always remember it is of
critical value to your customers. Taking the
actions shared by StaySafeOnline.org below
creates that culture of respecting privacy,
safeguarding data and enabling trust in your
organization. According to the CSA/Zogby
Consumer Poll, November 2016, “Nearly 75
percent of Americans feel it is “extremely”
or “very important” that companies have easy-to-understand,
accessible information about what personal data is collected about
them, how it is used and with whom it is shared.”
