The job of promoting secure destruction
is growing. Bringing more members and
more resources to this mission is important.
I strongly urge voters to ratify the
amendment. The risk is low and the benefits
Changing gears for a minute, I want to
remind you that the NAID 2018 is now only
weeks away. If you’ve seen the schedule
you know it is chalked full of great content
and great networking opportunities. The
exhibitors in the exhibit hall are unveiling a
record number of innovations. There is still
plenty of time to register if you haven’t yet.
Sadly, this also marks my last message
to you as NAID President. Luckily for
you, my successor Angie Singer Keating
is a knowledgeable and fierce defender
of secure information destruction and of
member rights. I could not think of a better
person to which I could pass the torch at
this exciting and important juncture in
NAID’s evolution. Past NAID Presidents have
written that you never really understand
how hard board members and NAID staff
work until you have walked in their shoes. I
can now attest to that firsthand and agree
I wish the best to Angie, the remaining
board members, and especially the newly
elected board members. They are all
remarkable people and NAID members are
very lucky to have them at the helm.
PRESIDENT’S M e s s a g e
By now, most readers are aware that the

along with a high level of concern about
doing what is best for the membership. As
a result, we arrived at a place where those
benefits were clear, which is why we are
asking for members to ratify the proposal.
Of course, on learning of this proposal,
two questions will naturally occur to NAID
1) What do we lose?
2) What do we gain?
We keep all that is good about NAID!
The new bylaws ensure that NAID and NAID
AAA Certification do not change. The NAID
management team is also unchanged and
will continue to speak and publish on the
importance of secure destruction under the
NAID banner. There is also no increase in
membership dues or other fees associated
with the proposal.
We gain a lot!
With the consolidated resources and
a message harmonized across all RIM
platforms, it means a stronger voice, more
advocacy, more tools. Conferences will
have more content. NAID members will be
exposed to more opportunities. And, we
will be better able to reach regulators and
